VRS (Verification Router Service) is the DSCSA mechanism dispensers use to verify that a product identifier (GTIN) and serial number are valid and not suspect before dispensing.
Manufacturers and repackagers publish verification endpoints; the VRS routes verification requests to the correct responder based on the GTIN prefix.
Failed verifications may require quarantine, investigation, and FDA Form 3911 reporting depending on your pharmacy or distributor workflow.
